Olympic medalists routinely bite their medals for pictures, but German luger David Moeller took the photographer’s directions a bit too literally. He chipped his tooth chomping down on the silver medal he won in singles luge Sunday, causing an emergency visit to the dentist.

“The photographers wanted us to bite into our medals at the presentation ceremony and a corner of my front tooth broke off,” admitted Moeller. “It wasn’t too bad and it didn’t hurt but it is annoying when you can’t smile as you normally do.”

Looking at the picture, it’s no wonder that he lost part of his tooth. Look at the pressure he is putting on that poor medal!
