Washoe County School District Bus Crash

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 56-year-old Reno motorist today on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol while driving after he allegedly failed to brake and rear-ended a stopped Washoe County School District school bus carrying 21 students about 3:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of North Virginia.

Douglas Whisler also was booked into the county jail on charges of failure to use due care, failure to provide a proper address as an ex-felon and having no insurance.

He said currently there are no other details about the accident and that law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident on the scene. No injuries were reported.
