Lifting is great and some people enjoy the soreness they feel the next day after an intense workout, feeling sore can offer a sense of achievement.

“How come I feel sore the day after, but not that same day?” The answer is Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS). So what causes this? When you work out, you are creating tiny tears in your muscles. This is normally a result of high intensity exercises such as heavy lifting or sprinting. Your muscles then want to recover, so they begin to heal themselves. Consuming an adequate amount of protein and nutrients, while giving your body enough time to rest helps accomplish this and your muscles are built during this phase. That’s why recovery days are very important. so try incorporating the foods below to recuperate more quickly.

Whole Grain Cereal : You may have heard that you should eat carbs before a workout, which is true, but you should also consume them after as well. Carbohydrates can help your body fight the fatigue that it feels after a workout by restoring your glycogen stores. Any carbohydrate snack will do but whole grains are always the best choice.

Cherries : Cherries are kind of like a magical fruit. They have many anti-inflammatory properties, which are really important for relieving muscle soreness. The antioxidant that gives cherries this healing ability is called anthocyanins. Many athletes consume tart cherry juice prior to workouts for this reason.

Nuts : Walnuts, almonds, brazil nuts — whatever kind of nuts you want. All kinds of nuts are very high in Vitamin E. This vitamin has muscle strengthening powers which will ultimately help to fight muscle soreness.

Berries : Berries such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries all contain antioxidants called polyphenols. These antioxidants are what protect your cells against damage. Aside from their ability to reduce muscle pain, they also help protect against all the other damages that can be done to our cells that can cause cancer.

Salmon : Fish in general is loaded with protein and a ton of essential fatty acids. Fatty acids help to reduce inflammation which in turn fights muscle soreness. Not a fan of fish? Take a fish oil supplement.

Eggs : Particularly egg yolks. Ignore the cholesterol factor. Eggs are high in protein and Vitamin D. Both of these two things help fight muscle soreness and aid in muscle growth. Vitamin D has become one of the biggest deficiencies in the American diet. It is really important to consume foods high in this vitamin, especially to help reduce muscle pain.

Overview: They aren’t really “super” foods. If you have sore muscles and eat some eggs, you aren’t going to automatically feel better but they will aid in the healing process. Aside from getting the right nutrients, it’s important to allow yourself some rest.

Taking one to two days a week off heavy training will be very beneficial for body. If you are an exercise freak and need to get to the gym, take it easy. Do some light cardio or lift lighter. You really only experience soreness when you push yourself to your limits.

Hugh Hefner, Playboy’s robe-clad mogul, said the layout would have a retro theme.

Co-owners Mark Treas and Rhett Barbour told The Kentucky Enquirer that the camp is more about how to better take the test to raise scores, not on how to improve knowledge in subject areas, It’s a 40-hour week of intense training. The company says if students don’t score better after taking the $300 class, they can take it again for free. If they still don’t score better, they get their money back.

The company has taught hundreds of students in its first two years, and expects to serve about 600 students this year alone. Only four have come back to retake it, Treas said. Nobody has asked for a refund.

The camp was timed to coincide with the ACT exam, which will be administered Saturday nationwide.

The Robert Pattinson-Reese Witherspooon starrer Water for Elephants and Morgan Spurlock’s The Greatest Movie Ever Sold are just two of several movies opening Friday.

“Water for Elephants,” based on a best-selling novel, was released in theaters Friday. If you read the book, you will have expectations.

“Water for Elephants” takes place in the 1930s. Christoph Waltz plays the sometimes nasty owner of a second-rate travelling circus. The new employee, Robert Pattinson, may not last in his job taking care of the animals since it seems he’d rather take care of the headliner and owner’s wife, played by Reese Witherspoon.

There is plenty of drama in “Water for Elephants.” And I will tell you scenes the studio has not released involving violence against the elephant play out in a very disturbing manner, even though they were manufactured with the help of high-tech special effects.

This movie is sometimes sad, sometimes makes you cringe and always makes you hope for a happy ending. I won’t tell you whether or not you get it, but I will say you are likely to tense up more than once watching.

The star attraction of “Water for Elephants” is really the acting. During moments when the story didn’t grab me, the performances did.

Release: April 22 (20th Century Fox)
Production: Fox 2000 Pictures presents a 3 Arts Entertainment/Gil Netter/Flashpoint Entertainment production
Cast: Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson, Christoph Waltz, Paul Schneider, Jim Norton, Hal Holbrook, Mark Povinelli, Richard Brake, Stephen Monroe Taylor, Ken Foree, Scott MacDonald, James Frain, Sam Anderson, John Aylward, Brad Greenquist, Tim Guinee
Director: Francis Lawrence
Screenwriter: Richard LaGravenese, based on the novel by Sara Gruen
Producers: Gil Netter, Erwin Stoff, Andrew R. Tennenbaum
Executive producer: Kevin Halloran
Director of photography: Rodrigo Prieto
Production designer: Jack Fisk
Costume designer: Jacqueline West
Editor: Alan Edward Bell
Music: James Newton Howard

Zsa Zsa Gabor was inconsolable and her blood pressure shot up to dangerous levels, So the doctor told him to bring her into the hospital so they could medicate and watch her.

Taylor and Gabor, 94, had been friends for decades and Gabor apparently thinks that she hasn’t got long to live.

Gabor is reported to have been born in Budapest on Feb. 6, 1917 as Sari Gabor. She married von Anhalt in 1986. Gabor was married to Hilton, the great-grandfather of socialite Paris Hilton, from 1942 to 1947.

Gabor was released from the hospital at the beginning of the month after blood-flow problems and had one of her legs amputated in January after doctors found an infection and antibiotics failed to heal it.

She underwent a hip operation but has suffered several complications. During one of her hospital stays in August, she had a priest read her last rites. Gabor is partially paralyzed from a 2002 car accident and uses a wheelchair. She also reportedly had a stroke in 2005.
